For this week’s Blu-ray Monday, we’re giving you the chance to win The Sweeney, Nick Love’s big screen version of the classic 1970s crime thriller TV series.
The Sweeney follow two members of elite police unit “The Flying Squad” as they are let loose on London’s criminal underworld. Ray Winstone does a stellar job replacing TV star John Thaw as old-school hard cop Jack Reagan, and Ben Drew (Plan B) takes on the role of George Carter, Regan’s loyal partner and right-hand man. The movie opens as George and Jack arrive at the scene of a warehouse robbery and follows their pursuit of a murderer who proves impossible to track down. The Sweeney is action packed, featuring exhilarating car chases, nail-biting fight scenes and an epic finale filmed in London’s world famous Trafalgar Square, the first time this has ever been done.
The Blu-ray version will include behind the scenes footage, a special feature on the Shooting in Trafalgar Square and animated story boards.
As usual with our Blu-ray Monday competitions, you have two chances to win. For your first entry, just click on the tweet button above. Then for a second entry, leave a comment below in response to the following question:
The Sweeney is a new take on the original 70’s TV series, but what other small screen favourites would you like to get the movie treatment? Perhaps you would like to see Dr Who get a big screen makeover? If you are a fan of US dramas, would film versions of the Fringe, Lost or Walking Dead get you excited? Or maybe there are some British classics that could spot a refresh – how about a comedy like Fawlty Towers, or a thriller like Spooks?
To make it easier for us to contact you, remember to leave your Twitter details with your comment. We look forward to your suggestions!
I wouldn’t mind a tying up of the whole Twin Peaks saga in a handy, palatable 2 hour film. Somehow think that’ll never happen.
Comedy wise, an Alan Partidge film would e awesome, or Nathan Barley!!

I would like to see 70s Detective ‘KOJAK’ get the movie treatment
@PeaceAshleyLove
I don’t think LOST could ever been made into a film, but if it did it would be probably 3 parts like Lord Of The Rings and very long! As for the Walking Dead it’s a wonderful show and doesn’t need to be made into a movie and I don’t think any director could do it justice.
I would like to see a big screen version of True Blood, just to see a gigantic Eric on the screen!lol
@Heavenlyink
The Big Bang Theory would be good! @staceymariep
How I Met Your Mother. Then at least we’d know who the mom is in 2 hours instead of YEARS later. lol.

I would love to see a Misfits Movie. @SarahTweetsYu
It has to be a Quantum Leap Movie for me or the 90′s shows American Gothic or Dark Skies! (NOT the Dark Skies film that is coming out soon!) All 3 of those programmes deserved a better ending than they had! Thankyou! scampidog70
I’m looking forward to seeing the revamp of the Sweeney, its a series that I followed when John Thaw took the lead – rarely missed an episode!
Not sure what I would put forward for a 2013 update, unless the actors are ‘cherry picked’ its very difficult to get it right.
Swallows and Amazons!
Gotta love the flying sqaud
Has to be The Good Life. Tweeting @alexis1976
